Moderating large volumes of user-generated video.

Nobody can watch every upload. Sample a frame or two a second instead of every frame, check videos asynchronously so a burst waits its turn, and send people only what the model flags. Detectivision checks a video by its address and answers with the time and box of each finding.

Your options

Three ways to moderate video

WayHow it scalesWhere it fails
People watch every videoWith the size of the team.Hours of video an hour of uploads; slow and hard on the moderators.
A model checks every videoWith the volume of uploads.Cases that need judgement or context.
A model checks, people decide what it flagsWith the volume; people see only what is flagged.The least: this is the usual way.
How it works
  1. Send each upload asynchronously

    Send its address with "async": true: you get an id at once, pay half, and the result comes by webhook.

  2. Choose the frame rate

    fps sets how many frames a second are checked, 0.5 to 10. For most content 1 or 2 is enough.

  3. Split long videos

    One check takes up to 300 frames: 5 minutes at 1 fps, 30 seconds at 10. Send longer videos in parts.

  4. Act on what is flagged

    Each finding has its time and box. Hold the video, cut the moment, or use a blurred copy; moderators review from the dashboard’s Logs.

Worked examples

What a video costs

A unit is a started 60 frames checked: a minute of video at 1 fps. capture and censor are 2 credits a unit, detect 1.

VideoUnitsBy webhookAt once
2 minutes at 1 fps, capture248
2 minutes at 2 fps, capture4816
5 minutes at 1 fps, capture51020

From the price table in the docs. A check that fails costs nothing.

In code

Send an upload to be checked

Request
curl https://api.detectivision.ai/api/v1/moderation \
  -H "Api-Key: $DETECTIVISION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "type": "video_moderation",
    "input": "https://example.com/uploads/clip-882.mp4",
    "fps": 1,
    "async": true,
    "metadata": { "videoId": 882 }
  }'
Response
{
  "id": 2210,
  "type": "video_moderation",
  "status": "queued",
  "metadata": { "videoId": 882 }
}

The result comes in a moderation.completed webhook, with your metadata and each finding’s time and box.

Questions

Frequently asked

Which videos can be checked?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI, up to 100 MB, at an http or https address anyone can open, and at most 300 frames per check.

How long does a check take?

Usually seconds, and at most about two minutes for a long video at a high frame rate.

How many frames a second should I check?

For most content 1 or 2. A higher rate catches shorter moments but covers less of a long video in one check.

Does Detectivision remove videos itself?

Every request shows in the dashboard’s Logs. You define your own actions, such as Approve or Ban; when a moderator takes one, your system gets a moderation.action webhook and carries it out. Detectivision never acts on your platform itself.

Can it moderate live video?

Yes, as live sessions: a stream link or frames you send, paid by the minute for the frames checked.
